Mercedes-AMG has introduced the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, an ultra-exclusive coupe that is part of the brand’s Mythos sub-brand, launched in 2022. This limited edition model, with only 30 units produced, is already sold out. The CLE 646 is powered by a 637-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-plane-crank V8 engine, delivering 627 pound-feet of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a nine-speed AMG Speedshift transmission, and the car features a high-performance exhaust developed with Akrapovič. The Launch Control system allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 193 mph.
The CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung boasts a heavily modified body, with a stance 2.4 inches wider than the standard CLE 53, and incorporates carbon fiber to reduce weight by 375 pounds. The carbon fiber is used for various components, including the fenders, front fascia, and rear bumper, contributing to a robust aerodynamics package that generates over 550 pounds of downforce at top speed. The car features an adjustable front diffuser, fender louvers, an integrated airflow channel, and an adjustable rear wing. Inside, Mercedes has focused on weight reduction by removing the rear seats, acoustic insulation, and several driver-assistance features, while simplifying the sound system and reducing creature comforts.
The interior of the CLE 646 includes ultra-lightweight bucket seats, carbon-fiber door panels, and a roll bar, with polycarbonate used for the rear side windows and rear window. An optional Performance Package offers six-point harnesses. The car’s exterior features a unique faded paint finish, transitioning from Mojave Silver Magno at the front to Obsidian Black Magno at the B-Pillar. The CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung combines sinister styling with fierce functionality, making it a standout model in Mercedes-AMG’s lineup.
