Want A Tesla Model Y? You'll Have To Wait
Delivery windows for Tesla Model Y trims range from October 2026 to early 2027, depending on whether buyers choose the long-wheelbase L Premium configuration.
Tesla's order page is telling a different story depending on which Model Y a buyer clicks. The Model Y L Premium now shows an estimated delivery window of January to February 2027, the longest wait across the lineup heading into Tesla's third-quarter delivery count this week.
That gap is significant because the rest of the Model Y range is not stuck behind it. Standard, Premium, and Performance trims carry shorter estimates, and the difference comes down to which version a shopper configures right now.
Model Y L Premium Pushes Into Early 2027

A US order placed in late September for the long-wheelbase Model Y L returned an estimated delivery window of January to February 2027, according to order-page checks. That is roughly five months out from the order date, the longest stretch anywhere in the Model Y configurator.
Tesla opened US and Puerto Rico orders for the Model Y L Premium AWD Launch Series on July 2, 2026, with deliveries beginning that September for the earliest orders. The Launch Series started at $61,990 and bundled one year of Full Self-Driving (Supervised), Supercharging, and Premium Connectivity, plus free paint, interior, and wheel choices.
The long-wheelbase body adds a third row and extra cargo space over the standard Model Y, and that distinction appears to be driving separate demand. Buyers who ordered the standard-wheelbase car in the same window saw noticeably shorter waits, which suggests the backlog is tied to the new body style rather than the model range as a whole.
Standard Model Y Trims Show Shorter Waits

The base Model Y, available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, carries an estimated delivery window of December 2026 to January 2027. That is roughly a month or two shorter than the Model Y L Premium, even though both trims sit on Tesla's main Model Y order page.
Shoppers configuring the entry-level car today are essentially looking at a delivery sometime this winter, not deep into next spring. Tesla's standard Model Y pricing sits below the pricier trims, which likely keeps order volume high even as wait times stretch.
For context, Tesla's Model 3 sedan shows a wider spread across its own lineup right now, from October-November 2026 for the Performance trim out to January-March 2027 for the base car. The Model Y's standard trims land inside that same general range.

Premium And Performance Trims Arrive Soonest
The Model Y Premium, in either RWD or AWD, shows an estimated delivery window of October to November 2026, the shortest wait of any Model Y configuration tracked this week. The Performance trim lists the same October-November 2026 window on current order pages.
That timing puts both trims on track for delivery within roughly a month or two of ordering, a sharp contrast to the Model Y L Premium's five-month estimate. Buyers prioritizing speed over the long-wheelbase body currently have the clearest path to a near-term delivery.
Pricing has shifted with those demand patterns in other parts of the range. Lease pricing on the Model Y Premium rose 4.5 percent back in May 2026, pushing the effective monthly payment to $718, a reminder that delivery timing is not the only variable shifting on these order pages week to week.
California buyers configuring a Model Y right now should also note that the state's MyFirstEV instant rebate program can apply to qualifying Tesla purchases, including Model Y, through participating California Tesla stores. The state launched the $3,500 point-of-sale incentive for first-time zero-emission vehicle buyers in early August 2026, and Tesla is listed among the participating automakers.
Tesla's official Investor Relations page remains the source shoppers should check ahead of this week's third-quarter delivery announcement, since configurator estimates can shift once that count is public. California buyers also need to confirm current MyFirstEV funding status and income and vehicle-eligibility rules with the program's official site or their Tesla store before relying on that rebate in their purchase budget.
