Down 23.43 percent
Mitsubishi appears to have been hit hard by the government cuts to the Plug-In Car Grant (PICG) in late 2018. The plug-in hybrid Outlander PHEV is the brand’s big seller, but the PICG changes effectively made that vehicle more expensive. As a result, the brand’s registrations fell from more than 21,000 in 2018 to just over 16,000 in 2019. At least the Japanese company knows it isn’t alone - plug-in hybrid sales were down by around 18 percent overall in 2019.
