As a result of the madness experienced with endurance races in 1997, when the BPR Global GT Series became the FIA GT, many manufacturers set out to put their best weapons on track, within the GT1 category. One of them was Panoz.

As far as we know, the Panoz Esperante GTR-1 was only assembled in two homologated units that were allowed to drive on public roads. The car was powered by a Ford-sourced V8 engine, delivering about 600bhp of power.

Of course, despite its spectacular design, the Esperante did not achieve good results at Le Mans.
