Beyond the spectacles that are the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Quail Motorsports Gathering, and the Rolex Motorsports Reunion are a number of events that feature the companies of a specific country. Perhaps at the top of that list is a must-see event: Concorso Italiano. The number of cars on display here grows every year – the big, Italian family atmosphere continues to flourish. Whether it be benchmarks of the Italian automotive industry like Ferrari, Maserati, or Lamborghini, or the more modest brands like Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and Fiat, Concorso Italiano certainly has something for every fan of Italian motoring.

The Lamborghini Miura turns 50 this year (and looks great doing so, by the way), so it's one of the featured cars at this year's gathering. Many were on display at the Quail the day before, but at Concorso, we see a fantastic array of colors on site. Beyond the Miuras, there are huge displays showing Lamborghinis throughout the ages. Obscure Lambos like the Espada and Jalpa are on hand, but the crowd really only cared about the iconic Countach and Diablo. Plus, being that Monterey Car Week attracts all kinds of late-model supercars, many of the company's current products were well represented.

Los Angeles businessman David Lee brought out his personal collection of Ferraris, and if you were at Quail in 2014, you’ll recall this massive collection, with the addition of his brand-new LaFerrari. Lee's display also features the  Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, and Enzo.

Beyond the high-dollar late-model exotics, bundles of Ital-style were sprawled across the Black Horse Golf Club greens. Quirky Fiats and Alfa Romeos were highly popular, likely since both nameplates have returned to America, and a lot of U.S.-market material was on hand, including a number of Fiat 124 Spiders.

Beyond the actual cars, Concorso Italiano featured lots of other vendors, offering all things related to the Italian automotive space. Books, posters, parts, and tuning catalogs were on hand, as well as a display of Amalgam fine model cars, for serious collectors.

A couple of big-time folks also showed at the event. Lamborghini Head of Design Filippo Perini was present as he was inducted into the Concorso Italiano Hall of Fame, and legendary Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni was on hand to show off some his new aftermarket tuning wares.
