Pricey hypercar manages to fit between a garbage truck and a wall without a single scratch.
Hypercar drivers: they’re just like you and me. Yes, we all like to imagine that every McLaren P1 spends its days on wide-open highways or pounding around glamorous race tracks. But sometimes, you’ve just got to get through a crowded city in Sweden.
That’s the setup for this clip, in which a McLaren P1 driver bravely wends his way through a narrow street. Plenty of drivers would baby their million-dollar hypercar and wouldn’t dream of trying to squeeze through a narrow gap in traffic, but not this owner. When he or she came upon a parked garbage truck blocking most of the roadway, the P1 driver didn’t flinch and simply inched the ultra-exotic McLaren between the truck and a stone wall – with only inches to spare.
We have to applaud the driver’s bravery and driving precision. We might not be so plucky if we were at the wheel of a hybrid machine that packs a combined 903 horsepower, can reach 62 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds, and tops out at 217 mph. Nor would we be eager to risk scratching one of only 375 P1s ever sold to the public. Nonetheless, as you’ll see in this clip, not all P1 owners are so fearful – and it’s far from the first time we’ve seen someone daily-driving a P1.
