Will it wow us like the Ciel and Elmiraj?
Five years ago at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance we saw the rather spectacular Ciel concept. In 2013, the American luxury marque managed to impress us all over again with the gorgeous Elmiraj concept. Now, Cadillac is getting ready to unveil a new design concept at the same venue and we hope it will be able to match the pizzazz of the two cars before it.
Details are scarce right now, but we do have the attached teaser video showing an elegant dashboard featuring a wood trim and a simple layout with very few physical buttons and knobs. The conventional controls have been replaced by a couple of curved OLED screens co-developed with LG Electronics. While there’s no word about whether the concept will morph into a production car, Cadillac does say the fancy screens will be implemented in a future road-going car.
The 3D navigation demonstrated in the video should look very nice given the vivid colors and crisp images OLED screens can display. Cadillac is not the only automaker to work on OLED screens for the interior of a cabin, as Audi is expected to offer a similar feature in the next-gen A8 set to come out next year. Audi is already using organic light-emitting diodes on the outside for the TT RS' taillights, while the BMW M4 GTS has a similar setup as well.
Check back on Thursday to see Cadillac’s brand new concept make its debut during the 2016 Monterey Car Week.
