Japanese bodykitter Wald has launched this new outfit for the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe with the rather wonderful name of Black Bison Edition.

The official website describes it thus: “‘Black Bison’ is named from its powerful body line designed by WALD International, and this word reminds us of the bison galloping across the wasteland bravely. This aggressive face-line looks like the Bison which has held up through some desperate struggle [sic].”

Hope that’s clear, then.

By the standards of Wald’s typically, err, extrovert work - see its interpretations of the Rolls-Royce Wraith and the latest Toyota Prius - the Black Bison 6 Series is quite restrained.

Well, sort of. The front bumper, with its gaping intakes and multi-element splitter is extremely aggressive. And the many-layered rear bumper, with extractors behind the wheels and quad exhausts, is a touch overdone. But the extended side panels and rear spoiler are rather muted, which has the effect of toning down the whole look.

Though the 22-inch wheels lift it back up a bit. The right-hand side wears Illima hoops, while on the left are a pair of developmental Jarret rims.

Wald also does a Black Bison Edition 'kit for the current Mercedes S Class, which is much like its usual fare - crazy, in other words.
