In case you still had any doubts about the importance of proper safety equipment in a car, here’s living proof. Two, actually. Both the driver and passenger managed to live to tell the story of how they survived from a horrible crash that happened in a biturbo LSX Chevy Camaro that was doing close to 200 mph (322 kph). The accident took place during the Shift S3ctor Half Mile event when the front wheel of the heavily tuned 1,800-hp machine locked up, sending the car into a spin before starting to roll over.

Horrible footage of the aftermath shows the Chevy is nothing more than a pile of crushed metal right now, but at the end of the day people are more important than cars. The one sitting on the passenger’s seat was rushed over to the hospital after the safety crew noticed he was unconscious, but he’s fine now. As for the man behind the wheel, he still had the strength to walk around the car and inspect the depth of the damages which you can clearly see are substantial.

It’s safe to say the Camaro won’t be back on the roads in the foreseeable future. The video goes to show safety equipment certainly makes the difference between life and death, especially when you’re in a car that’s doing almost 200 mph.
