"The Beast of the Green Hell" travels to U.K. to climb the Goodwood hill in the hands of Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers.

Rather than unveiling the GT R on its home turf, Mercedes-AMG decided to organize a special event at the Brooklands track in United Kingdom. Shortly after the GT R made its first public appearance with help from Lewis Hamilton, the high-performance coupe traveled to Goodwood for its dynamic debut. Driving the automotive equivalent of the Hulk was none other than Tobias Moers, the man in charge at Mercedes-AMG.

Affalterbach’s answer to the Porsche 911 GT3 wowed the gathered audience at Goodwood with its bespoke “green hell magno” paint and an aggressive body influenced by Mercedes-AMG’s GT3 race car. The roar provided by the upgraded biturbo V8 4.0-liter was certainly a crowd-pleaser and seeing Moers himself behind the wheel was an added bonus.

The new GT R was not the only Mercedes at Goodwood, as it was joined by a multitude of other cars carrying the desirable three-pointed star. Examples range from a lovely 300 SLS to recent products such as the S63 Cabriolet, C63 S Coupe Edition 1, along with the SLC 43 and SL 63. The folks from Daimler also brought the F1 W05 Hybrid from the 2014 Formula 1 season as well as some vintage cars like the 1936 W 25 and Rudolf Caracciola’s W 125 Silver Arrow from 1938.

As a refresher, Mercedes-AMG will have the GT R on sale in Europe starting with November and will introduce the model in United States by mid-2017.
