Cadillac is looking to give the CT6 a boost by highlighting the car's rear seat infotainment system and surround-view video recording system.

Starting inside the car, the model can be equipped with an optional rear seat infotainment system which adds two 10-inch displays which retract into the front seat backs when not in use.  The displays can be used to play movies, view media information, and adjust the rear seat massage function - among other things.

Rear seat passengers aren't just stuck to just DVDs as Cadillac points out the car has HDMI and USB ports which can be used with devices such as Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, or Google Chromecast.  This, combined with the car's built-in 4G LTE connectivity, means passengers can stream content from Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube.

The rear seat infotainment system is standard on the CT6 Platinum and available as part of the Rear Seat Package on CT6 Luxury and CT6 Premium Luxury.

Besides offering a rear seat infotainment system, the CT6 can be equipped with the industry's first surround-view video recording system.  The system uses four of the vehicles’ seven exterior cameras and can be configured to run in two different modes: front and rear cameras during driving or all four cameras when the security system is activated.  Footage is captured on an SD card located in the trunk and Cadillac envisions it will be used to record memorable drives or documenting an accident.

Cadillac CT6 rear seat infotainment system offers new levels of connectivity

BUILT-IN WI-FI HOTSPOT AND HDMI INPUTS ALLOW FOR EFFORTLESS VIDEO STREAMING

The 2016 Cadillac CT6 features an indulgent interior and industry-leading technology, including the available rear seat infotainment system that further elevates the back seat experience.

Headlining the advanced capability of the CT6’s rear seat infotainment system are the HDMI and USB ports located on the front of the rear center seat or in the rear seat center armrest. By utilizing these ports in combination with the vehicle’s built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi network, owners can use devices such as Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick or Apple TV to stream internet content directly (such as Netflix, Hulu or YouTube) to the rear seat screens. The ports can also be used to mirror device displays via the HDMI port or to play media stored locally on a drive.

The rear seat infotainment system includes two independent, articulating 10-inch-diagonal HD screens. The screens have been designed to seamlessly integrate into the CT6’s cabin and retract into the front seat backs when not in use. The screens tilt to make viewing easier and will remember that position until set to a new one. Passengers can play Blu-ray DVDs, view media information, see what is on the front CUE screen and adjust the rear massage function. (Rear seat massage on Platinum models only.)

The rear seat infotainment system is standard on the 2016 Cadillac CT6 Platinum trim; it is available as part of the Rear Seat Package on CT6 Luxury and Premium Luxury models.

All Cadillac models, including the CT6, come standard with OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot that can connect to up to seven devices. OnStar 4G LTE provides a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected. The hotspot is on whenever the vehicle is on and comes with a three-month/three-gigabyte data trial. 4G LTE is the most current and fastest mobile data network — 10 times faster than 3G. And OnStar 4G LTE offers stronger, broader coverage than smartphones on the same network.

For front seat passengers, the 10.2-inch CUE screen can be used to play media from USBs or Blu-ray DVDs when the vehicle is in Park. Cadillac CUE also provides owners a smart and simple way to access both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A “Projection” icon will appear on the CUE screen to enable simpler, easier access to key smartphone functions, including navigation, contacts, hands-free text messaging and select applications supported by Apple or Google.

Cadillac CT6 features industry-first surround-view video recording system

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY SYSTEM IS DESIGNED FOR INCREASED SAFETY AND VEHICLE MONITORING

The all-new Cadillac CT6 prestige sedan features bold styling, lightweight design and a host of new technologies, including an industry-first surround-vision video recording system designed to enhance situational awareness and safety for the driver.

The CT6 utilizes four of the vehicles’ seven exterior cameras to provide recorded video of the CT6’s surroundings. The cameras are strategically placed without compromising the sculpted exterior — one in each door-mounted rearview mirror, one integrated into the front grille and one mounted on the rear trunk lid. When the video recording system is activated, the cameras can capture video in one of two modes: using the front and rear cameras during vehicle operation or using all four cameras in a round-robin fashion when the vehicle security system is armed. The latter mode will only record video once the CT6 has been disturbed. The same cameras are also used to provide a 360-degree display around the vehicle on the CUE screen to aid in vehicle maneuvering.

Cadillac expects the surround-vision video recording system to be used by CT6 owners to record events such as a memorable drive, for security in the case of a vehicle being tampered with or to record an incident.

Captured footage is stored on a standard SD card in the trunk of the vehicle. Owners can choose to save certain captures indefinitely on the SD card or they can view or save the video files onto their personal computers.

The three remaining cameras on the CT6 are utilized for the industry-leading and award-winning Rear Camera Mirror, the Lane Keep Assist system and the Night Vision system.

2016 CT6 sedans equipped with the Surround Vision camera system — which is standard on CT6 Luxury, Premium Luxury and Platinum models — all have the surround-vision video recording system.
