The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has been spied undergoing testing in Europe where it will likely be sold as the Opel / Vauxhall Antara.
Caught testing alongside the next-generation Opel Insignia, the redesigned model is heavily camouflaged but we can see it will have a prominent grille, a gently sloping roof, and a more rakish windscreen. The model also has a tailgate-mounted spoiler, roof rails, and what appears to be a dual exhaust system.
Chevrolet has been tight-lipped about specifications but the crossover is expected to ride on the D2XX platform that underpins the Cruze. This change should enable the model to be lighter and more nimble than its predecessor.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but the U.S. spec model is expected to be offered with either a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque or a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 197 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. Europeans, on the other hand, can expect an assortment of four-cylinder petrol and diesel options.
The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is slated to be unveiled early next year and pricing will likely start in the low to mid-$20,000 range.
