A San Francisco woman took a Waymo but ran into one major issue when she tried to get out.

In a TikTok with over 470,300 views, Grace (@graceofthemoment) shares her interaction with Waymo customer support after she got stuck inside of the Waymo.

In the backseat, Grace tries to open the door of the Waymo to get out. However, nothing happens after she pulls the handle twice. A clear look of worry runs across Grace’s face but maintains her composure.

“Thank god I’m not claustrophobic,” the on-screen text reads.

Grace contacts Waymo customer support, and a man named Lance comes through on the phone.

“This is Lance with Waymo. How can I help?” Lance begins.

“Hi. The door isn’t opening,” Grace shares.

“Oh, perfect. Let me go ahead and have the door open for you,” Lance replies.

Before doing so, Lance confirms that Grace has tried pulling twice on the handle to open the door, which Grace informs him that she has. After this, Lance fiddles around on his end to begin the process to open the Waymo door. Grace still appears worried, but Lance is soon able to figure it out for her.

“I’ve unlocked the door. Can you try it now?” Lance shares.

The door opens and Graces rushes out immediately. The support agent asks if there is anything else needed, and Grace declines while already outside of the car.

“That’s it,” Grace answers.

“OK, take care now. Have a good day,” Lance concludes.

"This feels like a serious safety violation," Grace added in the caption.

'Waymo Support To Open A Door'

Viewers in the comment section debated Grace’s approach and attitude toward the Waymo support agent.

“So rude,” one TikTok commenter wrote.

“Don't take it out on him. He's just a worker,” another added.

“Bruh he’s just a customer support agent. Why you gotta have that attitude for,” one shared.

Others defended Grace believing she did nothing wrong.

“‘So rude.’ She’s trapped in a car wtf do yall want her to do?” one asked.

“You don't sound rude to me at all. Whoever is saying you were rude needs some serious calibration,” one wrote.

“That's rude to yall? I think it's a normal conversation,” one shared.

Another viewer thought it absurd that Waymo support was needed just to open the door.

“Waymo support to open a door,” one commented

More Waymos, More Problems

Whether you like it or not, Waymo is here and making its way all over America. As Waymo expands to new cities, more and more issues keep getting reported.

Incidents have included a highway accident with a 18-wheeler, veering into oncoming traffic, or a fleet of Waymos blocking an entire intersection.

Customers, like Grace, have reported getting stuck inside. One Austin woman got locked inside when the vehicle suddenly stopped underneath the expressway. The Waymo did not move for over five minutes while on the highway.

ABC 7 San Francisco reported one man experienced a Waymo ride that recklessly drove through a construction zone. Shortly after this, Waymo announced that over 4,000 vehicles were recalled to address software issues this past summer. With this announcement, it was reported that Waymo vehicles will also avoid highways until the issues are resolved.

What Makes A Waymo Suddenly Stop Working?

Google shares that each Waymo is programmed to be defensive and cautious. At any moment, the Waymo can pull over on its own or just stop entirely. This maneuver is done to process the current scenario.

“Sometimes, the car just needs a moment to decide how to proceed. It may be able to determine the best course of action and start moving again on its own,” per Google.

What To Do If Your Waymo Suddenly Stops

When a dangerous situation is happening, the last thing anything wants to hear is that the vehicle needs a minute to process.

Google advises that none of the controls in the vehicle should be touched, including the accelerator, brake pedal, or steering wheel. The passenger should remain put with the seatbelt fastened while support is contacted.

What do you think?

Waymo customer support will escalate the issue to get the vehicle moving on its own again or will send Waymo roadside assistance if not.
