Big news: Toyota has recently unveiled a restyled Corolla Cross, but for the time being it seems to be aimed solely at the Asian market.

Toyota's Thai subsidiary has shared details of the Corolla Cross being offered in that part of the world: it sports a honeycomb grille and a front bumper with new LED headlights, plus some updates to the interior.

This could be a preview of what's to come with the Corolla Cross sold in other markets, although Toyota has yet to confirm anything.

A new face

Let's take a closer look at how this Corolla Cross differs from its predecessor. The front end has a completely different bumper and the large, angular, vertically oriented air intakes are located under the redesigned headlights, adding a sporty touch. The mesh grille is no longer so obvious, and the hexagonal pattern blends into the bodywork below a narrow strip connecting the headlights. It also separates the upper bumper from the bonnet.

All these exterior changes unveiled in Thailand point to a unique front-end styling for all powertrains, with or without electrification.

The interior for Thailand

Inside, the Thai Corolla Cross features a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel in addition to the central 10.1-inch touchscreen.

Any changes to the powertrain are irrelevant, as Thailand uses Toyota's 1.8-litre four-cylinder in two hybrid versions and one non-electrified configuration. In Europe, on the other hand, the Corolla Cross is only available as a full hybrid with either the 140 PS 1.8-litre engine or the 197 PS 2.0-litre, the latter also available with electric all-wheel drive.

Which brings us to the big question: is this restyled Toyota Corolla Cross 2024 also destined for other international markets? Most likely, this styling update is only for certain Asian countries, which is not uncommon in Toyota's vast range.

In short, it seems hard to believe that a new model like the Corolla Cross, which is still awaiting arrival in France and excluded from the UK, could already undergo a premature restyling even on the Old Continent.
