Peugeot announced in 2021 the two milestones that will propel it into the future: the first will take place in 2024, when the electrification of the range will be completed. This means that all models available in the list will have at least one hybrid or fully electric variant. This is the first step towards the second stage, that of 2030, in which the company will only sell 100% electric models.

Confirming this, the first of the two new models expected in 2024 is the new Peugeot 3008 unveiled a few months ago in its hitherto unseen electric guise. It will be followed shortly by the 5008, which as usual will be its most spacious variant. In addition to the two new SUVs, Peugeot's 2024 will also see the arrival on the roads of the revamped 208, which is already on sale today with first deliveries expected as early as December.

Here is what's new from Peugeot for 2024:

Peugeot 208 restyling

The mid-career cosmetic update of the Peugeot 208, currently the company's smallest car after the discontinued 108 city car, arrived in the second half of 2023, preceded in late 2022 by a technical upgrade of the electric version e-208, with motor and battery upgrades.

The facelift is noticeable, with a larger and vertically extended grille, new headlights with triple claw-shaped daytime running lights and a more sculpted, three-dimensional nose. Inside, the upholstery, steering wheel, and especially the large central touchscreen, which becomes 10", change.

The engine range has definitively abandoned diesel and starts with the 1.2 Puretech petrol with 74 or 99 bhp and continues with the 48 V mild hybrid variant, which can be had with 99 or 134 bhp and a standard dual-clutch gearbox. Then there is the electric e-208 with a 154 bhp motor and a 51 kWh battery with a range of 249 miles (400 km) in the mixed cycle.

The commercial launch is set for November 2023, when orders will open with prices starting at £20,400 for the 1.2-litre Active 74 bhp, and the first deliveries will probably take place as early as the last few days of the year, although the new 208 will to all intents and purposes invade the streets from the following year.

Peugeot 3008 2024

Peugeot's first hybrid model already with the first generation and first to offer plug-in hybrid with the second, now the Peugeot 3008 third series receives for the first time a 100% electric motorisation (thanks to the adoption of the STLA Medium platform from Stellantis), indeed a whole range, to which will be added mild hybrid and plug-in versions yet to be revealed. No confirmation on the presence of diesel engines, already abandoned by other models.

La nuova Peugeot 3008

The new Peugeot 3008

The main novelty from a 'formal' point of view is the new body, which has been pushed even further towards an SUV-coupé style. The dimensions have increased with a length of 4.54 metres, a wheelbase of 2.73 and a boot capacity of more than 500 litres in the single-motor version, but there will also be an integral version with a motor for each axle. We are still talking about the electric, the only one whose general characteristics have been disclosed for now.

The interior of the Peugeot 3008 features an advanced i-Cockpit that extends from behind the steering wheel to the middle of the dashboard. Three versions have been announced, single-motor up front with 211 bhp or dual-motor for 322 bhp, both with a 73 kWh battery and 326 miles (525 km) range, or again single-motor but with a battery of no less than 98 kWh for the Long Range version with 228 bhp but no less than 435 miles (700 km) range.

Peugeot 5008 2024

With the 'transformation' of the 3008 into a sporty SUV-coupé, albeit one that has grown in size and comfort, the 5008 will once again take on the role of a family car. The examples caught on test with heavy camouflage also suggest a small increase in dimensions (the current one is 4.64 metres long, possible to reach 4.70). We will see it in the second half of 2024, on the road probably the following year.

The new Peugeot 5008 will also be built on the STLA Medium platform. For the electric version of the e-5008, the same versions are expected as for the e-3008, i.e. 73 or 98 kWh batteries, one or two motors, range from over 311 to around 435 miles (500 to 700 km) and power between 211 and 322 bhp. Among petrols, probable confirmation for the mild hybrid s recently introduced on current generation models and plug-in hybrids, diesel to be confirmed.
