Suzuki teases a slate of concepts premiering at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, including the retro-modern Waku Spo and ultra-boxy Hanare. Details are still scant about all of them, but the images suggest cool vehicles in tiny packages from the Japanese automaker. The event opens on October 23, so look for more details about these machines at that time.

The Suzuki Waku Spo concept wears a retro-inspired body that most closely evokes the general shape of the late-1960s Suzuki Fronte (below). Rather than using fender/wing-mounted mirrors, this vehicle takes a more modern approach and puts rear-facing cameras there. The company's teaser indicates the vehicle uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The announcement also mentions a switch that alters "body shape, front mask, and content shown on the dashboard" but doesn't explain the extent of the changes.

The Suzuki Hanare Concept (below) is a boxy van with tiny windows, which makes the body appear especially large. The company imagines it as an autonomous vehicle that's essentially a room on wheels. A hanare is a type of Japanese detached cottage, according to Suzuki, and this is where the concept gets its name and inspiration.

Suzuki brings a pair of Hustler concepts (below) to the Tokyo Motor Show. One of them is a standard take on the compact, four-door off-roader, and the other is a customised take on the vehicle with a roof rack, painted wheels, and decal on the side. The company's announcement says that the models' motto is, "with this car, every day will be more exciting."

Finally, there's the Every Combi that Suzuki imagines filling a very specific niche. The commercial vehicle provides a place for changing diapers and breast-feeding during outdoor events or in the aftermath of a natural disaster. It's a collaboration with baby product company Combi Corporation.

Suzuki will also have a variety of motorcycles on display at the Tokyo Show. They include the fully-faired Gixxer SF 250, naked Gixxer 250, and GSX-RR racer from MotoGP competition.

The Suzuki booth will exhibit in a way that lines up our technologies as an overall mobility brand. The exhibits will include WAKU SPO, a personal compact PHEV; HANARE, an autonomous driving mobile room; HUSTLER CONCEPT, a mini crossover wagon; and GIXXER SF 250, an on-road sport motorcycle with newly-developed oil-cooled engine.
