The 2+2 isn't often restored.
E-Type UK, the Kent-based firm known for stunning Jaguar E-Type restorations and restomods, has revealed its latest creation.
The Series 3 2+2 coupe models are rare among those restored by the company. The owner of this car tasked the firm with creating a reliable car with subtle modernisations and improved driving characteristics.
The car also needed restoration after years of use. For this process it was stripped down, with poor previous repairs removed and fixed to original specifications. A bespoke aluminium bonnet was fabricated to reduce front-end weight and a concours standard Opalescent Gunmetal paint job was applied.
Under the bonnet the original engine was fully rebuilt and fitted with electronic fuel injection with larger throttle bodies, aluminium radiator and header tank, and a 12-branch tubular stainless steel sports exhaust system. An improved 5-speed gearbox was also fitted that was devised specifically to cope with both long motorway drives and spirited country lane drives.
It also had all-round adjustable suspension, including sports torsion bars, anti-roll bar and uprated bushes to improve handling and ride quality. AP Racing brakes were also fitted with larger diameter discs, aluminium calipers and an increase from three to four pistons, which increased stopping power while also reducing weight.
The fully retrimmed Oxblood Red interior features a 15-inch wooden steering wheel, bespoke classically-styled inertia reel seat belts, a period-style stereo system hiding full modern internals including Bluetooth capability, and a modern LED dash light conversion.
"We treat every model of E-Type with the same respect whether in for service, restoration or sale, and seeing this 2+2 completed to such a standard is incredibly satisfying," said E-Type UK founder Marcus Holland. "Like our clients, we are big believers in using these special cars, so it is a real joy knowing that this on-the-button E-Type will be regularly on the road with that cavernous boot full of luggage."
