The road-legal single seater has yet another lap record.
The BAC Mono, the road-legal single seater, has claimed the production car lap record at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
The world’s only single-seater lapped the former Formula 1 track in just 2minutes 14.617s, beating the previous record, set by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by over 4.3 seconds.
It adds the Sepang scalp to its list of lap records, along with the likes of Zolder, Hungaroring and Anglesey, as well as being the fastest supercar ever to compete in the Goodwood Festival of Speed Supercar Shootout.
The record was set during one of BAC’s Mono Experience events, and was timed by the circuit's in-house timekeepers. The car used was a customer car and was one of eight in action at the event.
"What a fantastic achievement from a truly remarkable supercar. Mono has achieved some incredible things around the world and this is just another feat that we are very proud of," said Freddie Chen from BAC Hong Kong. "To go over four seconds faster around Sepang than the GT2 RS is amazing – no production car lap record in the world is safe with Mono around."
Neill Briggs, Co-Founder and Director of Product Development, added: "BAC and all of our dealers around the world pride themselves on first-class customer engagement and service – and there aren’t many better ways to mark a unique customer event than with a new lap record! A fantastic time had by all and what a brilliant scalp to walk away from Sepang with; we can’t wait to get back on the track with our customers to push for more records."
