Surf-inspired people-carrier is practical, but it costs almost £35,000.
Citroen has teamed up with surfing brand Rip Curl to create a special edition of its van-based SpaceTourer people-carrier.
Following on from the C4 Cactus Rip Curl revealed in 2016, the SpaceTourer Rip Curl can seat up to eight with luggage, although it comes with just five seats as standard.
Externally, the special edition model is set apart by its Rip Curl decals on the doors, as well as the black door mirrors, tinted side windows and 17-inch ‘Curve’ alloy wheels.
Five colours are available, including Polar White, Black and Soft Sand.
Inside, the dashboard gets a laser-etched design in silver, in addition to the leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel and the Rip Curl-branded floor mats.
This all comes in addition to the standard equipment seen on a normal SpaceTourer in mid-range ‘Feel’ trim, which includes a touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors and two-zone climate control.
Customers can choose whether to go for the five-seat edition, which comes in at £34,700, or spend an extra £1,080 on the optional third row of three seats, bringing the total to eight.
There are options under the bonnet, too, where two diesel engines are available. The 1.5-litre, 118 bhp unit is standard, but customers can opt for a more powerful 2-litre engine with 148 bhp. Both are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, but the larger engine is slightly more expensive, commanding a premium of £1,480.
Four-wheel drive is not available, but the Rip Curl does instead come with winter tyres and Citroen’s Grip Control traction control system, which can be programmed to deal with different terrains using a switch in the cabin.
