The latest addition to the hot hatch arena will start from £18,995.
The new Ford Fiesta ST is now available to order in the UK, with deliveries expected to start in the summer.
The hot hatch starts from £18,995 for the ST-1 model, which gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel, sports suspension and fancy new Recaro seats. This makes it a highly competitive entry into the hot hatch arena – the Suzuki Swift Sport starts at £17,999 and the Volkswagen Polo GTI costs from £20,285.
The ST-2 version of the Fiesta starts from £19,995 for the three-door and £20,645 for the five-door model and adds climate control, heated seats, a Bang and Olufsen sound system and blue seatbelts.
The ST-3 model comes complete with 18-inch alloys, satnav, auto wipers and a range of safety systems for £21,495 in three-door guise and £22,145 in five-door form.
All ST models of the Fiesta get electric heated wing mirrors, cruise control, Android and Apple connectivity, DAB radio and Ford’s NCAP pack, which offers lane-keep assist and a speed limiter.
There’s a performance pack available as an £850 option on the ST-2 and ST-3 trims, which throws in a Quaife limited-slip differential, launch control and performance shift lights.
In whichever spec, the sporting supermini produces 197bhp from its 1.5-litre Ecoboost petrol engine, enabling it to reach 62mph from a standstill in 6.5 second and on to a top speed of 144mph.
Thanks to trick cylinder deactivation technology, the three-cylinder motor offers a highly respectable official fuel consumption figure of 47.1mpg and emissions of 136g/km CO2.
For the first time the ST version of the Fiesta offers selectable drive modes, which will change the feel of the car between Normal, Sport and Track settings. These changes mean tweaks to the engine, steering and stability modes on the car as well as adjusting the ‘electronic sound adjustment’ feature on the exhaust that amplifies the exhaust note.
The new Fiesta ST is available in seven colours, one of which – Silver Fox – is new to the Fiesta ST, and another of which – Performance Blue – is unique to Ford’s ST models.
Look out for our upcoming first drive of the new Ford Fiesta ST.
