Remember when Mazda announced a Sport Black version of the Mazda 3 that wasn't actually black? Well it appears Mazda are still colour-blind, because they've done it again with the Mazda MX-5 RF.

Starting from £25,695, the new Mazda MX-5 RF Sport Black is available in Blue. Eternal Blue Mica actually, but not black. It does have black bits on it, but the 'Mazda MX-5 RF Sport Black Rear Spoiler and Door Mirrors' doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

The car is based on the 160bhp model, but adds more standard features. As well at the minor bodywork changes, there's also gunmetal grey alloy wheels. Inside you'll find leather seats, unique floor mats, scuff plates and badging. Technological enhancements include rain-sensing front wipers, rear parking sensors and automatic headlights for convenience.

'I’m delighted that we can offer an exclusive RF model to our customers,' said Peter Allibon, Sales Director Mazda Motors UK. 'With it joining the Z-Sport convertible in the line-up, we now have an unrivalled choice of MX-5s in the range, which means that anyone wanting to drive a distinctive and stylish roadster can find what they need with one of our special edition models.'

The Mazda MX-5 RF Sport Black Rear Spoiler and Door Mirrors will be revealed at the Goodwood Motor Circuit on the April 29, ahead of the 2018 MX-5 Owners Club Spring Rally, and will on sale from May 28.

It will join the MX-5 Z-Sport in Mazda's special edition roster. The Z-Sport comes with Machine Grey Metallic paint with a contrasting cherry red roof, as well as 17-inch black BBS wheels. Just like its predecessor, we expect the fourth-generation MX-5 to get many more special editions over the years.
