Subtle changes set it apart from your regular Tipo, such as the distinctive wide grille with glossy black trim, new diamond cut 18-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, and body coloured handles. Five exterior colours are available, with Street Grey being a S-Design exclusive.
Inside the changes are much more noticeable thanks to new Techno leather and fabric seats with double stitching that also finds its way onto the gear knob and steering wheel. There's also glossy black accents that highlight the dashboard and a Tecnico Grey fascia, which spans the entire width of the car. The interior certainly looks more upmarket than the standard car.
It's loaded with tech too. Bi-Xenon headlights make their Tipo debut, while inside there's the next-generation Uconnect 7-inch HD LIVE infotainment system, which is hooked up to a high-resolution 7-inch touchscreen. As is the norm these days, there's also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There's only going to be one engine and transmission choice – a 1.4litre T-Jet 120hp petrol engine and manual box. Fiat claims the S-Design will return 47.1mpg on the combined cycle, producing 139g/km of CO2. However, this Tipo's sporting stature is only skin deep with a zero to 62mph time of 9.6 seconds.
The Fiat Tipo S-Design is available to order now with deliveries expected to start by the end of this month. Prices start at £18,145 on the road in hatchback trim and £19,145 OTR as an estate. An eye-catching saloon can be had elsewhere in Europe, but there's no news of it landing on our shores.
