Are you faced with selling your supercar because it doesn't have room for the kids or the dog? Well worry no more!
BMW tuner Alpina has come up with a solution faced by literally 10s of people each year by launching the B5 Bi-Turbo Touring — the world's fastest estate car. Available in the UK for 'just' £91,000, or if you want a little less room and a little less practicality in the shape of a saloon variant, £89,000, the B5 presents one of the more affordable ways of entering the 200mph club and it even comes with a full three year/120,000 mile BMW warranty.
As the name suggests, the B5 Bi-Turbo is powered by a twin-turbo engine — in this case a V8 churning out 608bhp and 494 lb ft of torque. The car, which is based on the latest (G30) BMW 5-Series was put to the test on roads in Death Valley and the Arctic Circle. While developing the car, Alpina were given exclusive access to BMW design data and technical facilities, continuing a relationship that stretches all the way back to 1964.
Inside, the options for the interior are limitless, all being hand-crafted at Alpina's saddlery in Buchloe, Germany.
'Our cars are for driving enthusiasts who value a blend of qualities that can only be delivered by immense attention to detail and a single-minded focus on one type of owner,' said ALPINA GB’s Jonathan Noy. 'The B5 Bi-Turbo is built with just one powertrain and one chassis specification, which allows our engineers to calibrate every component and every control system to work perfectly together without compromise. ALPINA’s dynamics specialists have spent months honing the chassis, not hurling it around a race track but simply driving as customers would, on roads, enjoying every mile however fast or slow. The result is a pin-sharp driving experience combined with remarkable ride quality.'
