Discovery Commercial can go anywhere.
We already knew the Land Rover Discovery could go anywhere, but now it can be used anywhere thanks to an all-new van variant of the popular SUV.
Swapping rear seats for...absolutely nothing, the Discovery Commercial features 1,856 litres of flexible load space, while maintaining the comfort and sophistication of a 'regular' Discovery, says Land Rover.
From the outside, it's business as usual, with the rear doors in place and privacy glass installed to make the car look like the standard Discovery. A flat loadspace has been created using hard-wearing metal and even has extra underfloor storage. A cage between the front seats and rear load bay ensures full protection for those in the front.
With the back two rows of seats gone, the loadspace measures 1,635mm long, 939mm high and 1,411mm wide. The boot aperture is large enough to accept loads measuring up to 1000x735mm and is accessed by a powered tailgate and an innovative powered inner tailgate.
As we've come to expect from Land Rover, the Discovery Commercial features an abundance of tech features too, such as: InControl Touch Pro, cruise control and speed limiter, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, heated windscreen and rear window, heated door mirrors, DAB radio, InControl Protect, hill launch assist, dynamic stability control, roll stability control, cornering brake control, gradient acceleration control, hill descent control and trailer stability assist; and what's more, that all comes as standard. It's amazing there's room for anything on board.
'Discovery Commercial has always been a key part of the Discovery line-up since the Discovery 1, but the latest version brings new levels of practicality, versatility and premium levels of comfort that showcase the vehicle’s hard-working DNA,' said JLR's managing director Jeremy Hicks.
So it's the van that can do everything – in fact, it can even burn a hole in your pocket. Yep, it's not cheap; nearly 50 grand in fact. Prices start from £48,695 on the road, and there are three trim-levels available — S, SE and HSE — and two engines, a 2-litre SD4 petrol and a 3-litre TD6 diesel.
