The Manchester United manager got hands on at Jaguar's factory in surprise visit.
Famously taciturn Manchester United football club manager Jose Mourinho has paid a 'surprise' visit to the Jaguar F-Pace production facility to inspect the British car maker's lineup, and in the process he's become the 100,000th customer to get his hands on Jaguar's first SUV, the F-Pace.
The grumpy Portuguese – who lays claim to 25 major titles – donned Jaguar overalls (the things we do for a free Jaguar, eh?) and headed into the factory to oversee production of his new car and assist with the build process. As well as getting his hands dirty (OK, maybe slightly dusty), Mourinho indulged in an activity a little closer to home by delivering a team talk to Jaguar Land Rover employees – motivating them and talking about having pride and passion in their work.
'It was an amazing experience to visit Jaguar’s factory and see all the cars, technology and hard work that goes into developing such a beautiful car. Jaguar is a brand that I have been involved with for many years,' Mourinho definitely said. 'Back in 2014, I was the first UK customer to receive the F-Type Coupe and now to become the 100,000th Jaguar F-Pace customer is something that is very special.'
Mourinho's relationship with Jaguar is a strong one – as well as his landmark F-Type and F-Pace purchases, he test drove an Jaguar F-Pace at Jaguar’s extreme testing facility in Arjeplog, Sweden, mastering high-performance driving, high speed drifting, and full throttle ice driving on a 35-mile long frozen lake.
It seems that as well as being a world class football manager, Jaguar ambassador Mourinho also has a reasonable taste in cars, although we're not sure what United sponsor Chevrolet will have to make of all of this. We won't tell if you don't.
