Infiniti has taken the covers off its all-new QX80 full-size luxury SUV today at the Dubai motor show. Before we get into any of the details, though, allow us just to warn you that the new car isn't coming to Western Europe, but as Infiniti says 'it fascinates enthusiasts across the continent and is an iconic car for the brand globally'. As Infiniti says, not us.
Taking Infiniti’s ‘Powerful Elegance’ design language in what the company calls 'a bold new direction', the QX80 has a 'vigorous, contemporary and commanding aesthetic'. It's basically a giant SUV for the Middle Eastern and American markets, where the roads are twice as wide and you can't really walk anywhere.
It might be a Nissan underneath – Infiniti is the Japanese brand's premium wing – but the QX80 gets a fancier interior than your usual SUV fare, with upmarket materials used throughout the cabin.

The new QX80 is powered by a 5.6-litre V8 engine, that may sound a bit backwards by modern standards, but it also comes with a whole host of driver assist technologies.
The new QX80 is all set to go on sale in select Infiniti markets across North America, Asia, Russia and the Middle East from the end of this year. The previous generation was a sales success, shifting more units than any of Infiniti's other off-roaders. If you're feeling sad because it's not coming to the UK, the car is set to cost around 50 grand, so missing out might not be such a bad thing.
