The Korean government has officially opened the first phase of K-City, which forms part of a larger vehicle test facility near Hwaseong City to the south-west of Seoul. The new test area is specifically designed to develop autonomous vehicles and will replicate the full range of environments that cars might find themselves in. The first phase is a fully formed section of motorway, including toll booths, noise barriers, guard rails and junctions.

K-City's newly completed motorway section was officially opened by Korean transport minister Hyunmi Kim with a speech on 7 November.
When the new centre opens fully at the end of 2018, the 320,000m2 space will have pretend motorways, suburbs, inner city streets and parking areas featuring the whole range of street furniture and different obstacles you might expect in such areas.
K-City, South Korea
This area will represent a community area, particularly focused on elements that are present when there are a lot of pedestrians. It will feature bus lanes, bike lanes, a school zone and speed bumps where cars can be put to the test.
K-City will be open to anyone who wants to book the facility for testing and proving purposes.
