A Somerset-based bus company boss has fired all his staff and closed the business overnight, telling staff the news in a shocking email.

Sydney Hardy told his Nippybus employees that he had had enough of working with them and was quitting in order to pursue his dream of not having to work there any longer.

The company’s website – which used to declare Nippybus as one of Somerset's leading independent bus companies – has been replaced with a short message saying that the company has ceased operational activity, but the memo tells a spicier story. The 57-year-old owner has refused to make any further comment on his brutal message.

Around 300 local schoolchildren have been left in the lurch and Somerset council has had to step in at short notice to cover contracts that had been awarded to Hardy’s company.

The company’s drivers have said they are in shock at the news. Steve Atkins said: ‘Nobody expected it. It was a shock to see an email saying you haven’t got a job tomorrow.’

Dave English has been working at the company for nine years and said that the company had been losing drivers because of the way that Hardy had been treating his staff: ‘It’s disgusting the way it’s been handled. Nobody has any respect for him.’

The End.

There is a difference between giving up and knowing when you have had enough. I have had enough and realise I cannot work with you, the people I employ, a moment longer.

There comes a time in any relationship when you just have to say ‘f*** it’, say goodbye and move on. This is my time! I am quitting to pursue my dream of not having to work here.

Nippy Bus has now ceased operational activity with immediate effect. All staff should now consider themselves dismissed/redundant. The gates are now closed and will not open so you can stay in your scratchers and have a lie in.
