The new X-Class will be available from just under £30,000.

Mercedes has announced pricing for its first ever production pickup, the X-Class.

The X is actually a collaboration with Japanese manufacturer Nissan, and is based on that firm's Navara pickup. It is available to order from £27,310 plus VAT, with deliveries starting in January – unless you're particularly keen and willing to pay a 'reservation fee' to secure one of the first examples to come to the UK in November or December.

Three trim levels will be available from launch: Pure, Progressive, and Power. Two diesel engines will be available for the X-Class – the 220d and the 250d. The Pure will come exclusively with the 220d while the Power will only be available with the 250d. The mid-range Progressive will be available with a choice of both engines.

A V6-powered X350d 4matic version of the truck is set to arrive in the middle of 2018.
