The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe has received a raft of changes in preparation to take on the BMW 8 Series in 2018. If you fancy the Merc then get ready to write a cheque for £103,715.
Every S-Class Coupe benefits from a few external nips and tucks including OLED brake lights, more chrome and new exhausts. Inside, the 12.3-inch infotainment display has combined with the digital instruments to create a huge widescreen effect.
The entry-level 362bhp S450 Coupe isn’t available in the UK and so we swiftly move onto the £104k S560 where things get more interesting.

S560 Coupe models receive Merc’s latest 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, and its 462bhp and 516lb ft of torque give the car a 0-62mph time of just 4.6 seconds. Of course, it wouldn't be a premium German barge without an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Mercedes claims 34mpg combined and 188g/km CO2 with this new engine.
The princely sum of £127,515 will get you an S-Class Coupe with a bit more bite. The AMG S63 might use a smaller engine than before, from 5.5 litres down to 4 litres, but it delivers 603bhp and 663lb ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive will allow the car to do 0-62mph in an impressive 3.5 seconds.

If you need the very best Mercedes-AMG of the S-Class lineup, then you’ll want to take a look at the S65. It has a glorious 6-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, producing 621bhp and 738lb ft of torque, and proves there’s no replacement for displacement. At £189,615 it does cost a lot of money, but this is a lot of car.
Order books are open now with deliveries expected to commence in early 2018.
