Two litres of petrol engine and four-wheel drive in a small German SUV don't come cheap.
Audi has added a new model at the top of its Q2 range, the first petrol-powered example to be offered with Quattro four-wheel drive.
The 187bhp 2.0 TFSI S Tronic is now being offered as an alternative to the 2-litre diesel model that puts out 148bhp.
The power figure of the new car makes it the most powerful Q2 on Audi’s books, and it manages the 0-62mph run in 6.5 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 141mph.
The 2-litre TFSI model manages 44.8mpg combined and 144g/km in S line specification, thanks to a number of ‘tricks’ that boost fuel economy.
The seven-speed automatic S Tronic gearbox has a freewheeling mode when set to eco-efficiency that disengages the engine from the wheels to ensure maximum efficiency, as well as engaging stop-start when the car gets below 4.3mph.
The new model gets LED headlights, LED interior lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, front sports seats, Audi’s phone and infotainment packages as well as automatic lights and wipers as standard.
The new Q2 2.0 TFSI quattro 190PS S tronic starts at £31,760 on the road.
